HoraNow ("we", "our", "us", or the "Company") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

HoraNow is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data necessary to provide our services:

1.1 Location Data

We collect your device's location information (latitude and longitude) with your explicit permission to calculate accurate sunrise and sunset times for planetary hour calculations. This data is:

  • Processed locally on your device
  • Not transmitted to our servers
  • Not stored permanently unless you save a location
  • Used solely for astronomical calculations

Legal Basis: Consent (you grant permission through iOS location services) and Legitimate Interest (necessary for core app functionality).

1.2 App Preferences and Settings

Your app settings (notification preferences, display options, selected language, saved locations) are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults and may be backed up to iCloud if you have iCloud backup enabled.

1.3 Device Information

We do not directly collect device information. However, third-party services integrated into the App may collect device identifiers as described in Section 3 below.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily contact us for support)
  • We do not track your app usage patterns or analytics
  • We do not use crash reporting or analytics services
  • We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • We do not create user profiles or accounts

3. Third-Party Services and Data Collection

3.1 Apple App Store and In-App Purchases

Subscription and in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs their data collection: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

3.2 Google AdMob (Free Version Only)

If you use the free version of HoraNow, we display advertisements through Google AdMob. Pro subscribers do not see ads and are not subject to AdMob data collection.

AdMob may collect:

  • Device identifiers (IDFA - Identifier for Advertisers, if you have not opted out)
  • IP address
  • Device type and operating system version
  • Ad interaction data

Your Choices: You can limit ad tracking by:

  • Going to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
  • Going to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Disable "Personalized Ads"
  • Upgrading to HoraNow Pro to remove all ads

3.3 App Tracking Transparency

In compliance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, we will request your permission before allowing AdMob to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Calculate planetary hours based on your location and date
  • Display current and upcoming planetary hours
  • Send notifications (if you enable them) about planetary hour changes
  • Remember your preferences and saved locations
  • Provide customer support when you contact us

5. Data Storage and Security

All app data is stored locally on your device using iOS's secure storage mechanisms. We do not maintain servers that store your personal information.

If you enable iCloud backup on your device, your app preferences and saved locations may be included in your iCloud backup according to Apple's backup policies. This is controlled by your device settings, not by our App.

Data Retention: Your data remains on your device until you delete the App or manually clear your saved locations and preferences.

6. Your Privacy Rights

6.1 General Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request information about data we may hold (though we hold minimal data)
  • Deletion: Delete the App and all associated data from your device at any time
  • Control Location Access: Revoke location permissions through iOS Settings → HoraNow → Location
  • Control Notifications: Disable notifications through iOS Settings → HoraNow → Notifications
  • Opt-Out of Tracking: Disable ad tracking as described in Section 3.2

6.2 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to Know: Request disclosure of personal information collected
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights

Categories of Personal Information Collected: Location data (if permission granted), device identifiers (through AdMob for free users).

6.3 European Union Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Right to Access: Obtain confirmation of data processing and access to your data
  • Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured format
  • Right to Object: Object to data processing
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time

7. Children's Privacy

HoraNow is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. 8. International Data Transfers

Since all data is processed locally on your device, there are no international data transfers by us. However, third-party services (AdMob, Apple) may transfer data internationally according to their own policies.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law. Given our privacy-by-design approach with local data storage, the risk of such breaches is minimal.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Post the new policy on this page
  • Notify you through the App or via email (if we have your email) for material changes

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
